We are a multi-ethnic fellowship of followers of Jesus Christ.
We are a “priesthood” to serve our God according to 1 Peter 2:5, 9.
(5) You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. … (9) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
We use the word “priest” as a memory aid to spell out our primary responsibilities:
P. Pray for people.
People have many needs and concerns for their health, their relationships, their finances and all else that is part of the human experience. We raise these issues to the God who created and continues to care for His creatures.
R. Read Scripture.
The Bible is God’s holy Word—His “instruction manual” to help us understand His purposes and plan for our life. The books included in the Hebrew Old Testament and the Christian New Testament are the Authority to which we turn for all matters of faith.
I. Invite people to worship.
Worship is much more than a public event usually held on Sunday. True worship is a lifestyle of fellowship with and obedience to God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.
E. Encourage people.
When people get discouraged by the circumstances in their life, they need to be encouraged—have courage put back into them. One way to encourage is to comfort or console. Another way to encourage is to motivate people to “get back up” and “get back out there” when life has knocked them down, or when they need to take new steps in their walk of faith.
S. Sacrifice.
We give up (sacrifice) some of our time, talent and treasure (resources, money) in order to help spread the Good News (Gospel) of Jesus Christ.
T. Tell people about the Lord.
People who have experienced forgiveness of sins through the Savior, Jesus Christ, tell their story to those who have not yet accepted His free gift of new life and a place in the family of God.
